“Essential Next Steps recently helped move my 80-something mother from her independent living apartment to an assisted living facility. Leah and Jon Harlig coordinated everything! From downsizing and dispersal of “stuff” to supervision of the movers. They offered patience and kindness and just the right amount of “push” to keep mom focused. Essential Next Steps provided confidence and comfort to my family during this stressful time. And thanks to Leah and Jon, my mother is now in a beautiful and functional living space, surrounded by treasured belongings. She loves it!”
“Leah and Jon are a wealth of information and experience. They were friendly, knowledgeable and quick to respond when I reached out to them while planning my mom’s move from out of state to Austin. They were sensitive to my needs and offered helpful advice given our specific considerations, which I really appreciated.
Thoughtful, thorough and detail oriented, they clearly are not only professional but enjoy the work that they do. I would highly recommend them if you’re looking for someone to take the stress out of planning your next move. Thank you, thank you!”
“I wanted to thank you for doing such an incredible job moving our new residents into Silverado with such short notice and over a holiday weekend. They stated you were a lifesaver and that they could not have made it through the day without you. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your professionalism, care and partnership in working with our client. I will call you every time I have a family needing your service! I’m so thankful you took the time to come tour our community and tell me about your service. I’m even more grateful that I had you to call when I needed it. Have a blessed weekend.”

“Had the opportunity to use Essential Next Steps service to have them help an out of town family with the admission of their loved one to Hill Country Care from another facility in Austin. They packed the room, unpacked it at Hill Country Care, hung the pictures, organized the personal property, completed the property sheet, and brought excess to Good Will. Leah also kept the out of town family informed of the whole move. Positive Experience!! Will definitely recommend them again!!”

“Last year Sam and I made the monumental decision to move to a continuing care community. Leah and Jon were instrumental in helping us decide what to take and how to fit our furniture and treasures into our much smaller space. They measured, drew multiple furniture arrangements for each room and helped us hang our art work. We haven’t moved a thing!! They held our hands the whole way!”
Thank you, Pat S.
“After my husband was permanently admitted into a nursing home, I decided to sell my too-large house and move into smaller quarters. Leah and Jon did everything to get my house ready to sell. They helped get the interior painted, added flowers and plants to the front beds, had excess furniture removed from the house, etc.
Next, Leah and Jon coordinated the conversion of a detached storage garage on my family’s property into a beautiful and unbelievably efficient cottage for me. They supervised the contractor, assisted with flooring choices, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, cabinets and closets layout – virtually everything. The shower stall and doorways in the cottage will accommodate a wheelchair if one is ever needed. The area going into my cottage is level – no stepping up to get on the front porch. They turned this empty building into the perfect “Mother-in-Law” home.”
