Home During Covid – Random Thoughts and Musings
Where we used to run the dishwasher once a week or so, we now run it almost daily.
I love to read, but my attention span has been such that I can pretty much just scroll through my news feed. I’m barely into two books, enjoying them both, but have been unable to commit to either.
I’ve cut my husband’s hair twice. The second time, I was bolder, and the result was much better. I have cut and colored my mom’s hair, that’s its own story. I’ve colored my own hair.
I’ve worried about work and money. I’ve worried about my mom. Worried about one of my dearest friends going through an unimaginable struggle unrelated to the pandemic.
I’ve done deep cleaning on the house, actually Jon, the former restaurant guy, did the deep cleaning. I have been hot and cold about routine cleans.
I’ve worked out some at home, not too much. Done a little yoga (I taught for 11 years), and aimed for daily walks.
I’ve been profoundly moved by the protocols HEB has put in place to make it as safe as possible for its staff and customers. The same goes for my vet, Austin Diagnostic Veterinary Hospital.
I’ve loved the cute, silly, and uplifting posts on Facebook. Treat yourself, google the 50th Anniversary of The Weight, (Take a Load off Fannie) featuring Robbie Robinson and Ringo Starr (Thank you, Karen C.), and Roedean School Choir singing Hallelujah (Thank you, Sheryl C.).
I’ve enjoyed having the time to cook. I’ve enjoyed my cooking a little too much. :-)
I’ve enjoyed walking and talking with my neighbor who I met in 7th grade in Houston, and now, 1,000,000 years later we live across the street from each other in Austin.
I’m grateful for the quiet time I’ve had with my mom, the moments that challenge and the moments that are sweet. I’m most grateful for her caregivers, Katrese and Yadi, nurses Laurie, Janill and Courtney.
I have LOVED watching The Last Dance about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls on ESPN on Sunday evenings. Finally watching something sports-related with Jon (besides the Super Bowl once a year.)
Be well and stay safe.
